Residents of 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, Abuja, are raising alarms over a worsening environmental crisis caused by illegal waste dumping, which has transformed the area into an unsightly refuse site.<\/p>\n

Blocked drainages, stagnant water, and overpowering stench now pose serious health and safety risks.<\/p>\n

During a visit to the area on Monday, our correspondent observed heaps of uncollected waste clogging drainage channels, leaving behind pools of stagnant, foul-smelling water.<\/p>\n

Frustrated residents and business owners blamed indiscriminate dumping and poor waste management for the deteriorating conditions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe stench is unbearable, and whenever it rains, the entire area floods. We are afraid of a cholera or typhoid outbreak,\u201d a resident lamented.<\/p>\n

Environmental experts warn that the situation, if left unaddressed, could lead to severe flooding, erosion, and outbreaks of waterborne diseases.<\/p>\n

Concerned residents are now calling on the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) to take immediate action and prevent a full-blown public health disaster.<\/p>\n
