The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has called on security agencies to take swift action against rising armed robberies in Ibadan, particularly between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.<\/p>\n

In a communiqu\u00e9 issued after its monthly congress, the NUJ identified crime hotspots, including Mokola Roundabouts, Sabo axis, Queen Elizabeth Road, Anfaani Junction, and Iyaganku.<\/p>\n

It noted that robbers, often in small groups, use tricycles, motorcycles, and taxis to attack pedestrians and passengers.<\/p>\n

The union urged security agencies to intensify patrols and called on the Oyo State Government to restore streetlights, particularly near the University College Hospital (UCH), where poor lighting facilitates criminal activities.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the NUJ raised concerns over an influx of young migrants from the North, warning that many are being handed motorcycles and taxis upon arrival.<\/p>\n

It urged security agencies to investigate the trend to prevent potential threats.<\/p>\n

Beyond security, the NUJ decried the deteriorating state of the morgue at the State Hospital, Adeoyo, citing poor power supply as a major concern.<\/p>\n
