{"id":60232,"date":"2025-01-30T12:56:32","date_gmt":"2025-01-30T12:56:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=60232"},"modified":"2025-01-30T12:56:32","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T12:56:32","slug":"abuja-lovers-bag-three-month-jail-term","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/01\/30\/abuja-lovers-bag-three-month-jail-term\/","title":{"rendered":"Abuja: Lovers Bag Three Month Jail Term"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Gwagwalada Magistrates\u2019 Court in Abuja has sentenced two lovers, Mohammed Nazifi, 30, and Bilkisu Ibrahim, 25, to three months in prison for adultery.<\/p>\n<p>The duo pleaded guilty to the charge brought against them under sections 387 and 388 of the Penal Code, which criminalizes extra marital affairs under customary law.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, Nazifi pleaded for leniency, citing his responsibility as a married man with young children.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim also sought mercy, stating that she had a three year old child and an aged mother who depended on her.<\/p>\n<p>Magistrate Olatunji Oladunmoye had earlier remanded them, requesting a character witness to vouch for their conduct.<\/p>\n<p>However, they failed to provide one.
