Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Initiative, has unveiled the 2025 workplan aimed at accelerating the adoption of cleaner energy solutions for Nigeria.<\/p>\n

The workplan, which focuses on the “Focused Accelerated Deployment” of CNG infrastructure, regulatory safety measures, and subnational mobilization, is a strategic move to further Nigeria’s shift toward sustainable energy options.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made during a visit to the team led by Engineer Michael Oluwagbemi, the Chief Executive and Program Director, who highlighted the central goal of the initiative: ensuring CNG and Electric Vehicles (EVs), serve as the backbone for Nigeria’s energy transition.<\/p>\n

“The focus is clear: we aim to deliver Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and Electric Vehicles for all-round Nigerian mobility,” said Dr. Adedeji, reaffirming the commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future.<\/p>\n

The CNG initiative is a key element of the government’s response to the fuel subsidy removal, which has prompted soaring fuel prices and a push for alternative energy sources.<\/p>\n

As part of this broader strategy, CNG, recognized for its safety, cost-effectiveness, and environmental benefits, is expected to play a pivotal role in reshaping Nigeria\u2019s energy consumption.<\/p>\n

The 2025 workplan targets expanding CNG infrastructure across the country, ensuring both safety and accessibility.<\/p>\n

The plan also includes mobilizing state and local governments to join the transition, as well as providing education on the long-term benefits of CNG and EV adoption.<\/p>\n

Dr. Adedeji emphasized that Nigeria\u2019s future mobility needs would be powered by cleaner, safer, and more affordable energy sources, positioning CNG as an essential step in mitigating environmental damage and reducing dependency on conventional fuels.<\/p>\n
