{"id":59487,"date":"2025-01-12T14:34:45","date_gmt":"2025-01-12T14:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=59487"},"modified":"2025-01-12T14:34:45","modified_gmt":"2025-01-12T14:34:45","slug":"nff-to-unveil-eric-chelle-as-super-eagles-head-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/01\/12\/nff-to-unveil-eric-chelle-as-super-eagles-head-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"NFF to Unveil \u00c9ric Chelle as Super Eagles&#8217; Head Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Njoku Chijioke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is poised to introduce \u00c9ric Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles on Monday in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Chelle&#8217;s appointment was confirmed on January 7 by the NFF Executive Committee, following a recommendation from the federation&#8217;s Technical and Development Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The 47-year-old Franco-Malian, who resigned from his post at Algerian club MC Oran, steps into one of football&#8217;s most high-pressure roles.<\/p>\n<p>NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau expressed confidence in Chelle\u2019s capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We understand Nigerians&#8217; strong passion for football, which has sparked varied reactions to Coach Chelle&#8217;s appointment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But we urge unity and support, as we believe he has what it takes to lead the Super Eagles to success,&#8221; Gusau said.<\/p>\n<p>Chelle&#8217;s coaching resume includes guiding Mali&#8217;s national team to the edge of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p>His new challenge begins immediately, with the unveiling event also set to introduce his assistant coaches, who will lead the Super Eagles B team at next month&#8217;s African Nations Championship in East Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Their ultimate focus, however, will be the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, starting with matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Njoku Chijioke The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is poised to introduce \u00c9ric Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles on Monday in Abuja.
