The suspects, including 19-year-olds Emeka Akwara and Lukman Ariori, and 21-year-old Samuel Ariori, reportedly ordered an Uber from Chevron in Lekki to Obalende at around midnight on January 9.<\/p>\n<p>Upon reaching a secluded area, the suspects allegedly stabbed the driver multiple times in the neck during a robbery attempt. They failed to steal the vehicle, and two of the suspects were apprehended by community members at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Olanrewaju stated, \u201cOn January 9, 2025, around midnight, a case of conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder was reported. The suspects attacked the Uber driver in a remote area of Obalende but could not take the vehicle. Thanks to vigilant locals, two were arrested immediately and handed over to police operatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The police chief confirmed that two additional suspects were later captured in the Chevron area. The victim&#8217;s body has been transferred to the morgue at Mainland Hospital in Yaba.<\/p>\n<p>Olanrewaju described Segun as the gang&#8217;s leader, noting he had been sent back from the US by his father and was difficult for his mother to manage. He emphasized the societal failures contributing to such criminal behavior and announced that the suspects would face prosecution starting Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The police also paraded other individuals arrested for crimes including kidnapping, cultism, and carjacking.
