{"id":59142,"date":"2025-01-07T17:16:15","date_gmt":"2025-01-07T17:16:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=59142"},"modified":"2025-01-07T17:16:15","modified_gmt":"2025-01-07T17:16:15","slug":"jigawa-government-warns-retirees-against-fraudsters-disburses-%e2%82%a61-5-billion-in-benefits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/01\/07\/jigawa-government-warns-retirees-against-fraudsters-disburses-%e2%82%a61-5-billion-in-benefits\/","title":{"rendered":"Jigawa Government Warns Retirees Against Fraudsters, Disburses \u20a61.5 Billion in Benefits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Alexis Uchendu<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Jigawa State Government has cautioned retirees against fraudsters, urging them not to pay for services related to their pension benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in Dutse, the Executive Secretary of the State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme, Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, stressed that the Board\u2019s services are entirely free and in line with pension regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Aminu warned retirees against bribing staff, reiterating that no fees are required for processing benefits.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized the government&#8217;s commitment to retirees, revealing that over \u20a61.5 billion was disbursed to 609 retired workers between August and December 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The payments covered retirees who had served for 35 years or reached the mandatory retirement age of 60, as well as families of deceased workers and retirees who passed away before completing five years post-retirement.<\/p>\n<p>He further noted that the government settled payments for individuals who had not contributed the required five years under the pension scheme, including accrued interest.<\/p>\n<p>Reaffirming the state\u2019s commitment to transparency, Dr. Aminu urged retirees to report any fraudulent activities related to pension processing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Alexis Uchendu The Jigawa State Government has cautioned retirees against fraudsters, urging them not to pay for services related to their pension benefits.
