AEDC boss Pleads over Abuja power outage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Acting Managing Director of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Chijioke Okwuokenye, has confirmed that the ongoing power outage in parts of Abuja and Nasarawa is unavoidable due to critical infrastructure work.<\/p>\n<p>However, he assured customers that remedial measures are in place to mitigate the impact.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the press on January 7, 2025, Okwuokenye explained that the outage, which began on January 6, is linked to the relocation of the 33KV DC Airport Feeder and the 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers along the Outer Southern Motorway.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that while the outage is necessary for the completion of these important projects, AEDC is committed to minimizing disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have no intention to keep customers in darkness for 14 days,&#8221; Okwuokenye assured, adding that load-shedding measures have been introduced to provide intermittent power supply to affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>AEDC is also rerouting power to critical zones such as the airport and Lokogoma and plans to restore supply to other areas during off-peak hours.<\/p>\n<p>The outage is impacting several districts in Abuja, including parts of Kapwa, NNPC, and Games Village, as well as areas in Nasarawa.
