Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has signed the state\u2019s \u20a61.1 trillion 2025 budget into law, commending the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led State Assembly for its diligence in reviewing the proposal.<\/p>\n
During Thursday’s signing ceremony, Fubara reaffirmed his administration\u2019s recognition of the Oko-Jumbo-led legislature as the legitimate House of Assembly, dismissing a rival faction\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n
The budget, which spans 12 sections, outlines the state\u2019s expenditure framework and priorities for 2025.<\/p>\n
The governor also addressed the ongoing political rift with the faction led by Martins Amaewhule, who, along with 26 other legislators, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n
Fubara emphasized that his administration no longer recognizes the defectors, citing their loyalty to former Rivers Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.<\/p>\n
Despite offering time for reconciliation, Fubara declared their disqualification final, stating, \u201cNo governor in Nigeria has faced such disrespect, but I remain focused on advancing Rivers State.\u201d<\/p>\n
