{"id":58791,"date":"2025-01-01T15:09:57","date_gmt":"2025-01-01T15:09:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=58791"},"modified":"2025-01-01T15:09:57","modified_gmt":"2025-01-01T15:09:57","slug":"tinubus-new-year-message-things-are-getting-better","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/01\/01\/tinubus-new-year-message-things-are-getting-better\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu\u2019s New Year Message: &#8220;Things Are Getting Better&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians of his administration\u2019s commitment to boosting food production, reducing inflation, and strengthening the economy in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>In his New Year message, Tinubu highlighted economic progress in 2024, including declining fuel prices, rising foreign reserves, and a stronger Naira, as indicators of a brighter future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough 2024 posed numerous challenges, I am confident that 2025 will bring brighter days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFuel prices have gradually decreased, foreign trade surpluses were recorded for three consecutive quarters, foreign reserves increased, and the Naira strengthened, ensuring greater stability,\u201d Tinubu said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the Nigerian stock market\u2019s record growth generated trillions of naira in wealth, while rising foreign investment reflected renewed confidence in the economy.<\/p>\n<p>However, the President acknowledged persistent challenges, including inflation and high costs of food and essential drugs, pledging to reduce inflation from 34.6% to 15% by increasing food production and promoting local drug manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2025, we are determined to lower costs and reduce inflation through reforms that boost local manufacturing and enhance food production.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With hard work and divine help, we will provide relief for all Nigerians,\u201d Tinubu promised.<\/p>\n<p>He also announced plans to establish the National Credit Guarantee Company to expand access to credit, especially for women and youth, by mid-2025.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative aims to drive economic growth, reindustrialization, and improved living standards.<\/p>\n<p>Calling on state and local governments to align with federal reforms in agriculture and taxation, Tinubu commended governors adopting the Federal Government\u2019s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), initiative and integrating electric vehicles into public transportation.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting national unity and ethical values, Tinubu revealed plans to unveil a National Values Charter and a national orientation campaign in early 2025 to promote patriotism and shared ideals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese reforms will succeed only if supported by shared values, common identities, and unconditional love for our country,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>The President also reiterated his commitment to youth development, announcing the inaugural Youth Conference in Q1 2025 as part of efforts to foster inclusiveness and nation-building.<\/p>\n<p>Expressing optimism about Nigeria\u2019s economic trajectory, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration\u2019s goal of achieving a $1 trillion economy and urged citizens to remain focused and united.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us not be distracted by divisions based on politics, ethnicity, region, or religion,\u201d he stated, thanking Nigerians for their sacrifices and support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we enter 2025, I wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year filled with joy, success, and good health.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By God\u2019s grace, 2025 will be a year of great promise and fulfillment,\u201d Tinubu concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians of his administration\u2019s commitment to boosting food production, reducing inflation, and strengthening the economy in 2025.
