{"id":58614,"date":"2024-12-28T19:25:15","date_gmt":"2024-12-28T19:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=58614"},"modified":"2024-12-28T19:25:15","modified_gmt":"2024-12-28T19:25:15","slug":"drug-dealer-kills-man-over-fake-bank-alert-for-cocaine-purchase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/12\/28\/drug-dealer-kills-man-over-fake-bank-alert-for-cocaine-purchase\/","title":{"rendered":"Drug Dealer Kills Man Over Fake Bank Alert for Cocaine Purchase\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Emmanuel Ogbodo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tragedy struck in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as 34-year-old Horsefall Rowland was killed over a dispute involving a fake bank alert used to purchase cocaine.<\/p>\n<p>Rowland had informed his mother, Gloria George, that he was attending a meeting at Peter Odili Road and the GRA on September 10, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Late that night, he reassured her he was on his way home but later called at 5 a.m. in distress, revealing he had been kidnapped.<\/p>\n<p>The abductors demanded ransom payments, leading Gloria to transfer \u20a630,000 initially, followed by \u20a6300,000 after further demands.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the payments, Rowland was found dead along Queens\/Kings Bakery Road in Abuloma, Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n<p>Police investigations, launched on November 1, 2024, led to the arrest of five suspects: Endurance Thompson (23), Boma Otonye (41), David Ishaku (34), Moses Benjamin (29), and Emmanuel (32).<\/p>\n<p>Thompson, the primary suspect, confessed that Rowland used fake bank alerts to buy cocaine and owed him \u20a6150,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe admitted the alerts were fake after I confronted him,\u201d Thompson revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Rowland was beaten, injured, and later died while being transported to a friend\u2019s house.<\/p>\n<p>The Rivers State Police Command, through spokesperson SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrests and said Rowland&#8217;s body had been deposited in a morgue.<\/p>\n<p>Investigations are ongoing to identify additional suspects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Emmanuel Ogbodo Tragedy struck in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as 34-year-old Horsefall Rowland was killed over a dispute involving a fake bank alert used to purchase cocaine.
