{"id":58511,"date":"2024-12-26T18:53:19","date_gmt":"2024-12-26T18:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=58511"},"modified":"2024-12-26T18:53:19","modified_gmt":"2024-12-26T18:53:19","slug":"fct-emergency-services-rescue-three-men-from-manhole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/12\/26\/fct-emergency-services-rescue-three-men-from-manhole\/","title":{"rendered":"FCT Emergency Services Rescue Three Men from Manhole"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD), alongside the FCT Fire Service and the National Emergency Management Agency, successfully rescued three men trapped in a blocked manhole in Abuja&#8217;s Guzape area of Asokoro District.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, acting Director-General Mr. Abdulrahman Mohammed explained that two of the trapped men were laborers hired to clear debris obstructing the manhole leading to a central sewage system.<\/p>\n<p>A buildup of trapped methane gas caused an explosion, resulting in their suffocation inside the manhole.<\/p>\n<p>The third individual was a volunteer who became trapped while attempting to assist the laborers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the rescued men is receiving treatment at Wuse General Hospital, while the other two are at Asokoro District Hospital,\u201d Mohammed reported.<\/p>\n<p>He urged residents to leave the maintenance of public infrastructure to the appropriate government agencies and commended emergency responders for averting a potential tragedy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD), alongside the FCT Fire Service and the National Emergency Management Agency, successfully rescued three men trapped in a blocked manhole in Abuja&#8217;s Guzape area of Asokoro District.
