Fr. Michael Nsikak Umoh, offered a blend of spiritual guidance and social commentary, emphasizing the transformative power of faith during turbulent times.<\/p>\n<p>Archbishop Augustine Akubeze of Benin City, reflecting on the theme \u201cHope Does Not Disappoint\u201d (Romans 5:5), reminded Nigerians of the endurance and faith needed to overcome adversity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we anticipate the Jubilee Year of Hope in 2025, let us remain steadfast and share Christ\u2019s light with those around us,\u201d he encouraged.<\/p>\n<p>In Abuja, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama highlighted the redemptive message of Christmas amid Nigeria\u2019s struggles with insecurity, poverty, and corruption.<\/p>\n<p>He called for servant leadership and active citizenship to foster unity and solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Kaigama also expressed sorrow over the recent stampede at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, and stressed the need for collaboration to prevent similar tragedies.<\/p>\n<p>Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins of Lagos focused on the social implications of governmental policies, criticizing reforms that exacerbate the suffering of the poor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolicies should lift people, not push them further into despair,\u201d he stated, advocating for investments in agriculture and job creation as sustainable solutions to poverty and hunger.<\/p>\n<p>Jos Archbishop Matthew Audu delivered an emotional message on the power of love, rooted in the prophecy of Isaiah 9:6-7.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod speaks love; let us do the same,\u201d he urged, calling for reconciliation and compassion in a divided society.<\/p>\n<p>From Ibadan, Archbishop Gabriel Abegunrin encouraged modest celebrations, reminding the faithful of the true mission of Christ\u2014love and sacrifice.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo of Abeokuta added his voice, urging the government to build \u201cstructures of hope\u201d through affordable loans, stable electricity, and functional refineries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNigeria will rise again,\u201d he affirmed.<\/p>\n<p>The bishops\u2019 collective appeal is a reminder of the essence of Christmas\u2014a season of hope, renewal, and service to others.<\/p>\n<p>They called on leaders to prioritize the welfare of the people and citizens to live as beacons of faith and compassion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet the light of Christ dispel our darkness and inspire a brighter future for Nigeria,\u201d the bishops concluded, offering a unified message of resilience and renewal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ade Iyamoye In their separate Christmas messages, Catholic bishops across Nigeria have urged citizens to embrace hope, love, and unity as the nation grapples with deep social, economic, and political challenges.
