Nigeria\u2019s tax landscape witnessed unprecedented transformation in 2024 under the leadership of Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).<\/p>\n
His groundbreaking reforms reshaped tax administration, enhancing efficiency and fostering trust between citizens and the government.<\/p>\n
Guided by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda, Dr. Adedeji embraced innovation to modernize Nigeria\u2019s tax system.<\/p>\n
Key among his achievements was the overhaul of the TaxProMax platform, automating over 80% of previously manual processes.<\/p>\n
This modernization simplified tax collection, improved transparency, and made compliance easier, particularly for small businesses.<\/p>\n
Dr. Adedeji also expanded Nigeria\u2019s tax base, reducing overdependence on oil revenue. By integrating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into the tax system with incentives and support, he diversified revenue streams while fostering economic growth.<\/p>\n
These efforts culminated in FIRS exceeding its N19.4 trillion revenue target for 2024, a significant leap from N12.3 trillion in 2023.<\/p>\n

Transparency and accountability were also prioritized. Partnering with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Dr. Adedeji established the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) within FIRS to combat corruption and uphold ethical standards.<\/p>\n

Dr. Adedeji\u2019s international influence as President of the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA), further enhanced Nigeria\u2019s stature, fostering global collaboration and knowledge exchange.<\/p>\n
