{"id":58293,"date":"2024-12-21T12:53:29","date_gmt":"2024-12-21T12:53:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=58293"},"modified":"2024-12-21T12:53:29","modified_gmt":"2024-12-21T12:53:29","slug":"ihediohas-ex-chief-of-staff-others-join-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/12\/21\/ihediohas-ex-chief-of-staff-others-join-apc\/","title":{"rendered":"Ihedioha\u2019s Ex-Chief of Staff, Others Join APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Emmanuel Ogbodo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chris Okewulonu, former Chief of Staff to ex-Imo State governor Emeka Ihedioha, and Chuma Nnaji, Ihedioha\u2019s former deputy governorship candidate, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with their supporters.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the APC secretariat in Owerri, Okewulonu cited dissatisfaction with the Peoples Democratic Party\u2019s (PDP), deviation from its founding principles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy decision to leave the PDP stems from my belief that the party\u2019s core values have been irretrievably lost,\u201d he said, adding that he joined the APC to contribute to the state\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n<p>Okewulonu praised Governor Hope Uzodimma\u2019s leadership, commending his achievements in infrastructure and human capacity development.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Uzodimma welcomed the defectors, describing their move as a significant boost to the APC&#8217;s credibility.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With Okewulonu and Nnaji, we now have the Ronaldos and Lionel Messis of politics in our party,\u201d Uzodimma remarked.<\/p>\n<p>Chuma Nnaji, a former Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, announced that over 3,000 supporters joined the APC alongside him.<\/p>\n<p>Other prominent defectors included Paschal Obi, a former House of Representatives member, and Tochukwu Okere of Owerri Federal Constituency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Emmanuel Ogbodo Chris Okewulonu, former Chief of Staff to ex-Imo State governor Emeka Ihedioha, and Chuma Nnaji, Ihedioha\u2019s former deputy governorship candidate, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with their supporters.
