The police successfully gunned down two suspected cultists who had invaded the Odiemerenyi hamlet in Ahoada East, killing five persons over the weekend, in response to a distress call. The perpetrators were allegedly linked to David Gift, aka 2Baba, the most wanted cult leader notorious for his role in the savage murder of Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashin, in Odumude community, Ahoada East.<\/p>\n
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP. Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the police received a distress call around 01:00 hours on Sunday, November 12, 2023. The call reported the presence of suspected cultists loyal to 2Baba, searching for alleged police informants in Odiemerenyi Community.<\/p>\n
Upon receiving the information, the Ahoada Police station, in collaboration with other tactical units, swiftly mobilized to the scene. Unfortunately, the hoodlums had already claimed the lives of five natives before the police arrived. Upon sighting the police, the criminals opened fire, but the law enforcement officers overpowered them with superior firepower, resulting in the fatal injury of two suspected cultists.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner of Police (CP) assured residents of Ahoada East that adequate security measures were in place to counter any potential security challenges instigated by criminal elements.
