{"id":57950,"date":"2024-12-13T18:08:27","date_gmt":"2024-12-13T18:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=57950"},"modified":"2024-12-13T18:08:27","modified_gmt":"2024-12-13T18:08:27","slug":"afe-babalolas-law-firm-seeks-dele-farotimis-disbarment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/12\/13\/afe-babalolas-law-firm-seeks-dele-farotimis-disbarment\/","title":{"rendered":"Afe Babalola\u2019s Law Firm Seeks Dele Farotimi\u2019s Disbarment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Afe Babalola\u2019s law firm has petitioned the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC), to disbar human rights advocate Dele Farotimi over alleged unethical conduct.<\/p>\n<p>The 90-page petition, dated December 6, 2024, was signed by Ola Faro, a partner in the firm.<\/p>\n<p>The firm accuses Farotimi of defaming them in his book, Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System, and making false allegations against the Supreme Court and the legal profession.<\/p>\n<p>The petition also claims that Farotimi participated in unlawful conduct, including bribing judicial officers, distorting facts, and obstructing justice to benefit his clients.<\/p>\n<p>The firm further alleges that Farotimi used offensive language against the Supreme Court, treated colleagues with disrespect, and engaged in unethical practices to influence judicial outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Farotimi is also facing trial for alleged defamation and cyberbullying, with charges filed by the Ekiti police.<\/p>\n<p>He was granted N50 million bail on December 3, 2024, but remains in custody pending a magistrate court ruling on December 20.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu &nbsp; Afe Babalola\u2019s law firm has petitioned the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC), to disbar human rights advocate Dele Farotimi over alleged unethical conduct.
