{"id":57871,"date":"2024-12-11T14:09:46","date_gmt":"2024-12-11T14:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=57871"},"modified":"2024-12-11T14:09:46","modified_gmt":"2024-12-11T14:09:46","slug":"family-demands-miyetti-allah-leaders-release-from-detention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/12\/11\/family-demands-miyetti-allah-leaders-release-from-detention\/","title":{"rendered":"Family Demands Miyetti Allah Leader&#8217;s Release from Detention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The family of Alhaji Bello Bodejo, President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has called on the Nigerian military to ensure his immediate release, alleging that his detention violates human rights.<br \/>\nBodejo was reportedly arrested on December 9, 2024, by soldiers from the 117 Guards Battalion in Keffi, Nasarawa State.<br \/>\nHis arrest is said to be linked to an incident on December 8 in Tudun Wada, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, where a retired Nigerian Army General allegedly fired at a herd of cattle.<br \/>\nAccording to herders present, they acted in self-defense by disarming the General and reported the matter to the police.<br \/>\nSpeaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Bodejo\u2019s brother, Suleman Waziri, described the arrest as unjustified, claiming it was based on unfounded allegations.<br \/>\nWaziri stated that Bodejo was approached by relatives of the herders on December 9 to assist in recovering their confiscated cattle and that his involvement was purely humanitarian.<br \/>\nWaziri also expressed concern over the family&#8217;s inability to access Bodejo since his detention.<br \/>\nHe alleged that both he and the legal counsel were denied visitation rights when they approached the 117 Battalion.<br \/>\nThe Commanding Officer reportedly cited the need for authorization from higher authorities, which Waziri argued was a violation of Bodejo\u2019s constitutional rights to liberty and legal representation.<br \/>\nLt.
