The Kwara State Government has taken delivery of 40 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles under the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), aimed at improving public transportation and mitigating the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
\nAt the handover ceremony, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq received 20 gas-powered shuttle buses and 20 tricycles, expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the PCNGI team for their strategic intervention.
\nThe governor highlighted the initiative as a crucial step toward transitioning to cleaner energy while addressing the challenges posed by the subsidy removal.
\nThe 18-seater shuttle buses and tricycles are set to be integrated into Kwara’s public transportation system, offering affordable services to residents.
\nGovernor AbdulRazaq also announced a partnership with B-One Mobility Limited to establish a gas-powered tricycle assembly plant in the state, a move expected to create jobs and further enhance the availability of clean and cost-effective transport solutions.
\nToyin Zubair, Executive Vice Chairman of PCNGI, praised Kwara’s commitment to the CNG initiative, describing the state as a model for other regions.
\nHe assured continued federal support, including investments in additional conversion centers to expand the reach of the program.
\nThe PCNGI targets the conversion of one million vehicles from petrol to CNG, with Governor AbdulRazaq acknowledged as a key advocate for the transformative agenda spearheaded by President Tinubu.
