{"id":57775,"date":"2024-12-08T12:13:43","date_gmt":"2024-12-08T12:13:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=57775"},"modified":"2024-12-08T12:13:43","modified_gmt":"2024-12-08T12:13:43","slug":"police-arrests-kidnapper-in-anambra-after-%e2%82%a615m-ransom-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/12\/08\/police-arrests-kidnapper-in-anambra-after-%e2%82%a615m-ransom-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Arrests Kidnapper in Anambra After \u20a615m Ransom Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Emmanuel Ogbodo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old suspect, Nwokpoku Emmanuel, in connection with kidnapping and armed robbery activities.<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel, along with his gang, was reportedly involved in the abduction of a victim from a neighboring state.<\/p>\n<p>After holding the victim hostage, the gang allegedly collected \u20a615 million in ransom before releasing the individual.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the gang made off with the victim&#8217;s red Mercedes Benz GLE 450, which was later recovered by police operatives at MCC Junction, Onitsha.<\/p>\n<p>Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>He further revealed that efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang, including their leader, identified as \u201cEbuka.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe operatives have successfully recovered the victim\u2019s vehicle and are now focusing on arresting other members of the gang,\u201d Ikenga said.<\/p>\n<p>The arrest forms part of the police\u2019s ongoing efforts to clamp down on kidnapping and robbery in Anambra State.<\/p>\n<p>Investigations are still ongoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Emmanuel Ogbodo &nbsp; Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old suspect, Nwokpoku Emmanuel, in connection with kidnapping and armed robbery activities.
