{"id":57629,"date":"2024-12-03T21:56:22","date_gmt":"2024-12-03T21:56:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=57629"},"modified":"2024-12-03T21:56:22","modified_gmt":"2024-12-03T21:56:22","slug":"south-africa-relaxes-visa-rules-for-nigerian-travelers-business-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/12\/03\/south-africa-relaxes-visa-rules-for-nigerian-travelers-business-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa Relaxes Visa Rules for Nigerian Travelers, Business Leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To enhance bilateral relations, South Africa has eased visa requirements for Nigerian tourists and business professionals.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement came during the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape Town, presided over by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and attended by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, revealed that Nigerians can now apply for South African visas without submitting physical passports.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, eligible Nigerian business professionals will have access to five-year multiple-entry visas, promoting greater mobility and fostering economic collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>President Ramaphosa highlighted the reforms as part of efforts to attract Nigerian investments and bolster economic ties between the two nations, which celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are committed to eliminating barriers and creating an environment conducive to investment and trade,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria hosts numerous South African companies, a testament to the robust economic relationship between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa encouraged reciprocal investments in South Africa\u2019s diverse industries, while acknowledging Nigerian government reforms aimed at enhancing its business climate.<\/p>\n<p>The two leaders also pledged to prioritize Africa\u2019s development and address challenges faced by Global South nations on the G20 agenda, reaffirming their commitment to regional growth and cooperation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adenike Lawal To enhance bilateral relations, South Africa has eased visa requirements for Nigerian tourists and business professionals.
