{"id":57191,"date":"2024-11-28T08:15:59","date_gmt":"2024-11-28T08:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=57191"},"modified":"2024-11-28T10:00:19","modified_gmt":"2024-11-28T10:00:19","slug":"fcta-launches-special-seasonal-operation-to-secure-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/11\/28\/fcta-launches-special-seasonal-operation-to-secure-abuja\/","title":{"rendered":"FCTA Launches Special Seasonal Operation to Secure Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Njoku Chijioke<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has rolled out a comprehensive security operation to safeguard Abuja residents and visitors throughout the festive season.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative, which commenced on Monday, is a strategic response to combat crimes such as one-chance operations, illegal motor parks, and street begging\u2014activities that often escalate during the holiday period.<\/p>\n<p>Led by the Command and Control Centre, the operation is set to run until January 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Adamu Gwary, Director of the FCTA Security Service Department, emphasized that the operation&#8217;s primary objective is to prevent criminal elements from exploiting the season\u2019s festivities to carry out illicit activities.<\/p>\n<p>Gwary\u2019s message was conveyed by Peter Olumuji, the Secretary of the Command and Control Centre, who underscored the importance of the initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The operation has already yielded significant results. In a recent crackdown on Wednesday, several suspects were apprehended, and vehicles were impounded, with a focus on curbing illegal street activities.<\/p>\n<p>Seven beggars were also detained for violating the ban on street begging, reinforcing the FCTA\u2019s commitment to a cleaner, safer city.<\/p>\n<p>Deborah Osho, Head of Operations at the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), revealed that the operation primarily targets evening and night hours, a time when one-chance criminals are most active.<\/p>\n<p>With this initiative in place, the FCTA is ensuring a heightened sense of security and peace of mind for all who visit or live in the capital.<\/p>\n<p>As the festive season approaches, residents can rest assured that the FCTA&#8217;s proactive measures will contribute to a safer Abuja, free from the usual seasonal disruptions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Njoku Chijioke The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has rolled out a comprehensive security operation to safeguard Abuja residents and visitors throughout the festive season.
