The event, scheduled from November 14 to 18, 2023, will also witness the launch of the NGE Media Trust Fund under the theme &#8220;Stimulating Economic Growth, Technological Advancement: Role of the Media.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, along with several corporate organizations, including Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Nigeria Customs Service (NSC), United Bank for African, Delta State government, Nigerian Port Authority, Zenith Bank, Access Bank, Dangote Group of Company, and others, have expressed support for the conference.<\/p>\n<p>The NGE expressed excitement about the overwhelming support, viewing it as an endorsement of the conference&#8217;s mission to initiate a robust conversation among stakeholders aimed at resolving the nation&#8217;s economic challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will delve into critical issues such as Nigerian media sustainability and the existential threat posed by Big Tech. It aims to remind editors and media executives that accurate, credible, and timely information is crucial for judicious resource allocation.<\/p>\n<p>Focused discussions are planned on reducing the federal government&#8217;s dependence on oil exports, diversifying foreign exchange sources, addressing infrastructure gaps, building strong institutions, and strengthening public financial management systems. Security experts, including the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, will also examine the impact of illegal oil activities threatening the nation&#8217;s economy.<\/p>\n<p>The annual conference provides a unique platform for media executives and editors to engage in discussions about issues affecting the journalism profession and collaboratively propose solutions that enhance its robust practice in Nigeria.
