The Edo State Government has raised alarm over the disappearance of more than 200 official vehicles and issued a 48-hour ultimatum to former officials and private individuals to return them.<\/p>\n
Kelly Okungbowa, Chairperson of the committee tasked by Governor Monday Okpebholo to recover the missing assets, disclosed on Friday that three vehicles were retrieved within 24 hours.<\/p>\n
The vehicles\u2014a Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses\u2014were found at a private residence in Benin City.<\/p>\n
In a startling revelation, one of the recovered buses contained undistributed palliatives, including bags of garri and rice, meant for Edo residents.<\/p>\n
Okungbowa urged the public to provide credible information about the missing vehicles, promising generous rewards for verified tips.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are determined to recover all stolen government property,\u201d Okungbowa stated. \u201cThis is not private property but belongs to the people of Edo State. It is wrong for individuals to hold onto what is not theirs.\u201d<\/p>\n
The committee assured residents that the recovery process would remain lawful and transparent.<\/p>\n
Okungbowa appealed to all those in possession of government vehicles to return them voluntarily within 48 hours.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will ensure these vehicles are restored for the benefit of Edo citizens,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
