Three people have been killed in a renewed clash between farmers and herders in the Dogon Duste community, located between Nasarawa and Toto local government areas of Nasarawa State.<\/p>\n
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, confirmed the incident during a press briefing in Lafia, the state capital.<\/p>\n
According to Nadada, the violence erupted on Monday, November 18, around 4:30 p.m. The local Divisional Police Officer (DPO) promptly reported the confrontation.<\/p>\n
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the clash to prevent further violence. Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered two bodies on the farm, while four others were injured and taken to the Primary Health Care center for treatment.<\/p>\n
In a subsequent search, a third body was found in the bush, bringing the total number of fatalities to three.<\/p>\n
Nadada assured that normalcy had been restored in the area and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to thoroughly investigating the incident.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that the police are working closely with the local community to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have devised an action plan centered on collaborative policing after carefully analyzing crime trends in the state,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner of Police also commended the significant progress made in tackling insecurity, attributing it to strong public cooperation.<\/p>\n
He called for continued community support to maintain peace and stability in the state.<\/p>\n
