The Niger State government has raised alarm over the deteriorating condition of federal roads within its jurisdiction, calling on the federal government for immediate intervention.<\/p>\n
Abdulbaqy Usman Ebbo, Special Adviser to Governor Umar Mohammed Bago on Digital Media and Strategy, expressed the state’s frustration during an exclusive interview.<\/p>\n
He lamented the federal government\u2019s prolonged neglect of critical infrastructure, despite Niger State\u2019s strategic importance as a central hub in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Highlighting key projects, Ebbo noted that the Suleja-Minna road, awarded 14 years ago, remains incomplete, while the Kontagora-Rijau road has been pending for over a decade.<\/p>\n
Similarly, the Baro road project has seen little progress despite repeated assurances from the federal government.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur resources are stretched thin with the numerous state projects underway,\u201d Ebbo said, adding that federal support is essential to alleviate the burden. \u201cNiger State\u2019s road network is vital for the economy of the entire nation. If these roads were to shut down, the economic impact would be felt nationwide.\u201d<\/p>\n
