{"id":56614,"date":"2024-11-21T12:56:29","date_gmt":"2024-11-21T12:56:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=56614"},"modified":"2024-11-21T12:56:29","modified_gmt":"2024-11-21T12:56:29","slug":"stray-bullet-kills-labourer-as-soldier-police-clash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/11\/21\/stray-bullet-kills-labourer-as-soldier-police-clash\/","title":{"rendered":"Stray Bullet Kills Labourer as Soldier, Police Clash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Gabriella Ogbu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A labourer tragically lost his life, and three others were injured during an altercation between a soldier and policemen conducting a stop-and-search operation in Ebonyi State.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Ugwuachara village, Ebonyi Local Government Area, when a confrontation erupted between a soldier in civilian clothing and police officers on duty.<\/p>\n<p>The soldier, attached to Operation Kachiyanma in Kaduna but on leave in Ebonyi, reportedly resisted being searched, leading to a scuffle.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Adaku Uche-Anya, the soldier attempted to disarm one of the officers during the altercation.<\/p>\n<p>In the struggle, a shot was accidentally discharged, fatally striking a labourer nearby.
