{"id":56576,"date":"2024-11-20T19:10:48","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T19:10:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=56576"},"modified":"2024-11-20T19:10:48","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T19:10:48","slug":"fg-allocates-n112-billion-for-safe-school-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/11\/20\/fg-allocates-n112-billion-for-safe-school-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Allocates N112 Billion for Safe School Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Gabriella Ogbu<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government has allocated N112 billion to ensure the safety of learning environments across Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The funding, part of the National Plan for Financing Safe Schools, will be used over the next three years to enhance school security and promote inclusive education for all students.<\/p>\n<p>Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, the Minister for Women Affairs, made the announcement on Wednesday in a statement marking Universal Children\u2019s Day, themed &#8220;Advancing Children\u2019s Rights for a Sustainable Future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She emphasized the government&#8217;s progress in advancing children&#8217;s rights and improving their welfare through various initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe N112 billion allocation will support the maintenance of safe school environments across the country for the next three years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis initiative is part of our broader effort to ensure schools remain secure and accessible for every child in Nigeria,\u201d the minister said.<\/p>\n<p>Suleiman-Ibrahim also highlighted the government\u2019s commitment to children\u2019s rights, noting that all 36 states have now adopted the Child Rights Act.<\/p>\n<p>She further praised the impact of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act, which strengthens legal protections for children against violence, exploitation, and abuse.<\/p>\n<p>She also emphasized President Bola Tinubu\u2019s administration\u2019s dedication to creating an environment where every child has access to education, healthcare, and a life free from harm.<\/p>\n<p>The government\u2019s progress includes: Adoption of the Child Rights Act (CRA 2003) by all 36 states, ensuring children&#8217;s rights are protected under Nigeria\u2019s Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Enforcement of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act of 2015 to safeguard children from abuse and exploitation.
