Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has refuted claims that he was barred from entering the Aso Rock Presidential Villa during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.<\/p>\n
The allegation, made by independent journalist Jackson Ude on his verified X handle, claimed that Wike was intoxicated when he received the Indian Prime Minister at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Ude further suggested that a security officer from the villa had confirmed Wike was blocked from the Presidential Villa.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike dismissed the claims, insisting that he carried out his duties as instructed by President Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n
According to Olayinka, Wike led the Indian Prime Minister to his hotel following his arrival at the airport and then escorted him to the Presidential Villa on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cContrary to the lies peddled by Jackson Ude, the FCT Minister performed his duties diligently. He led the Prime Minister from the airport to the hotel and then to the Presidential Villa, where his official duty ended,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n
Olayinka also criticized Ude for his past false reports, including an earlier claim that former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello had fled the country via Niger Republic.<\/p>\n
Despite Ude\u2019s claims, Bello appeared at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on September 18, 2024.<\/p>\n
