{"id":56541,"date":"2024-11-20T14:38:32","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T14:38:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=56541"},"modified":"2024-11-20T14:38:32","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T14:38:32","slug":"senate-holds-valedictory-session-for-ifeanyi-uba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/11\/20\/senate-holds-valedictory-session-for-ifeanyi-uba\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate Holds Valedictory Session for Ifeanyi Uba"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Alexis Uchendu<\/p>\n<p>The Senate on Tuesday held a valedictory session in honour of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South and passed away on July 26, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The solemn event, held at the National Assembly Complex, saw an outpouring of tributes from Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, lawmakers, and dignitaries who gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the late senator.<\/p>\n<p>Ubah\u2019s casket was brought into the chamber as family, friends, and political associates looked on.<\/p>\n<p>His Senate seat was draped with the Nigerian flag and adorned with flowers and candles, symbolizing his service and dedication to the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Vice President Shettima shared personal memories of Ubah\u2019s generosity, recalling how the senator quietly donated \u20a650 million to support a Boko Haram-affected community in Borno State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was a good man with a heart for rebuilding and an immense capacity for leadership,\u201d Shettima remarked, describing Ubah as one of the Senate\u2019s brightest stars.<\/p>\n<p>Senate President Akpabio praised Ubah\u2019s contributions as a businessman, philanthropist, and advocate for the underprivileged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, we do not just mourn; we celebrate the remarkable life of a man who believed in friendship and service,\u201d Akpabio stated.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin lauded Ubah\u2019s courage and determination, while Minority Leader Abba Moro reflected on the senator\u2019s legacy as a \u201cconsummate politician and fantastic colleague.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The session was attended by Ubah\u2019s wife, children, and close relatives, along with notable figures including former Senator Chris Ngige and members of the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p>The wives of senators, led by Mrs. Nnoma Akpabio, and dignitaries like Hon.
