A police officer was shot and killed by armed gunmen on Wednesday morning in the Ebem-Asaga area of Ohafia Local Government Area, Abia State, sparking fear and panic in the community.<\/p>\n
The attack, which occurred around 7:30 a.m., left residents fleeing in terror.<\/p>\n
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with many abandoning their homes.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople ran for their lives. The area is now deserted,\u201d a local resident recounted.<\/p>\n
This tragic incident follows closely on the heels of another attack on Sunday night, where a police officer attached to Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, a member of the House of Representatives for Isiala-Ngwa North\/South Constituency, was killed in an ambush in Umuahia.<\/p>\n
During the ambush, the officer, along with a colleague and a driver, was attacked by gunmen. While the driver and one officer managed to escape, the slain officer sustained multiple gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n
