Former Cameroonian junior international, Fran\u00e7ois Ngoumou, has backed Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman to clinch the African Player of the Year Award.<\/p>\n
Ngoumou praised the Nigerian international for his standout performances with Atalanta in Serie A and his impressive outings with the Super Eagles during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), labeling him the favorite for the prestigious accolade.<\/p>\n
\u201cLookman was brilliant at the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria. His performances with Atalanta were very interesting. He was able to assert himself and prove decisive in the Europa League,\u201d Ngoumou said.<\/p>\n
Ngoumou further highlighted Lookman\u2019s consistency over the past year, comparing him favorably to other contenders for the award.<\/p>\n
\u201cGuirassy is all fired up after these two competitions, but over the last twelve months, I think Lookman has been more consistent. He has shone at the highest level,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
