Businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has endorsed former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha\u2019s call for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who has been in detention since 2021.<\/p>\n
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Cubana Chief Priest shared a video of Okorocha\u2019s tribute to the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, where Okorocha urged the federal government to release Kanu as a gesture to honour Ubah\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n
In his post, Cubana Chief Priest echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that freeing Kanu is essential for peace and unity in Nigeria\u2019s Southeast region, which has been plagued by unrest.<\/p>\n
Addressing Senate President Godswill Akpabio, he wrote: “Those pleas from Owelle Ndi Igbo are all we ask for our dear in-law. Let Ohamadike Ndi Igbo, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, come back home soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cubana Chief Priest further lamented the challenges faced by the Igbo people due to Kanu\u2019s detention, particularly the restricted access to their homeland and the ongoing instability in the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been almost five years now; we still cannot access our hometown. Only his release can restore peace to our region.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019ve lost many lives and properties. We need to rebuild the South-East ASAP. Make una help us,\u201d he appealed.<\/p>\n
During his tribute, Okorocha also urged Senate President Akpabio to champion the cause of Kanu\u2019s release on behalf of the Igbo people.<\/p>\n
The call aligns with long-standing demands from groups such as Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and Kanu\u2019s supporters, who have persistently pressured the government to address the issue.<\/p>\n
