Nigeria has reinforced its status as a major contributor to international education in the United States, ranking seventh globally and first in Africa for student enrollment, according to the 2024 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange.<\/p>\n
The U.S. Embassy disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, revealing that 20,029 Nigerian students enrolled in American colleges and universities during the 2023\/2024 academic year. This figure represents a 13.5% increase compared to the previous year, highlighting Nigeria\u2019s pivotal role in global student mobility.<\/p>\n
The report marks a historic milestone, with U.S. institutions hosting a record-breaking 1,126,690 international students\u2014the largest number ever recorded. Nigerian students, renowned for their academic excellence, make significant contributions to graduate-level studies, with over 55% pursuing advanced degrees.<\/p>\n
Sub-Saharan Africa continues to be the fastest-growing region for international education, experiencing a 13% increase in student mobility this year, following an 18% rise in the previous academic year.<\/p>\n
