The Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sunday Dare, has hit back at the Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo over his criticism of the current administration.<\/p>\n
Speaking at Yale University, Obasanjo labeled Tinubu’s government as corrupt and accused Nigeria’s political elite of manipulating national resources for personal gain.<\/p>\n
In a fiery response on Monday, Dare challenged Obasanjo’s moral authority, alleging that his presidency was marred by corruption and mismanagement.<\/p>\n
“Former President Obasanjo ran a government that spent $16 billion on power infrastructure, yet Nigerians were left in darkness. Up till now, there\u2019s no explanation for the colossal waste, and that\u2019s just one example of his administration\u2019s failings,” Dare stated.<\/p>\n
Dare also accused Obasanjo of undermining democracy, referencing the controversial third-term agenda during his tenure.<\/p>\n
“Democracy suffered mortal wounds under his watch, leaving successive governments, including Tinubu’s, to clean up the mess he left behind,” he said.<\/p>\n
Dare dismissed Obasanjo\u2019s remarks as insincere, adding, “Instead of pulling down his successors, Obasanjo should reflect on his contribution to Nigeria\u2019s challenges and apologise to the nation.”<\/p>\n
