ABC Haulage, the heavy-duty trucking arm of ABC Transport Plc, has taken a bold step toward sustainability with the deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks at Lafarge Africa\u2019s cement factory.<\/p>\n
This fleet expansion not only increases the company’s haulage capacity but also aligns with global eco-friendly practices by significantly reducing carbon emissions.<\/p>\n
Since partnering with Lafarge Africa in 2010, ABC Haulage has played a vital role in transporting materials for major civil construction projects across Nigeria\u2019s South-South and South Eastern regions.<\/p>\n
The latest move further solidifies this partnership, increasing haulage capacity at Lafarge\u2019s factory by 250,000 tons annually.<\/p>\n
Victor Nneji, Group Head for Innovation & Strategy at ABC Transport, emphasized the environmental and operational advantages of this transition.<\/p>\n
\u201cSwitching to CNG technology is a critical step in our sustainability journey. It not only reduces our carbon footprint but also enhances operational efficiency, cutting costs associated with diesel dependence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
To complement the new fleet, ABC Transport is developing a state-of-the-art truck yard along Lafarge\u2019s newly constructed evacuation road in Cross River State.<\/p>\n
The facility will feature modern maintenance units, advanced tracking systems, and staff accommodations, ensuring seamless operations.<\/p>\n
Managing Director Jude Nneji hailed the initiative as a strategic milestone, highlighting its potential to deliver long-term value to shareholders while maintaining the company\u2019s industry leadership.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis investment strengthens our partnership with Lafarge and underscores our commitment to sustainable growth in logistics and haulage,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
In collaboration with Lafarge Africa, ABC Transport has also enhanced its driver training programs to uphold stringent safety standards, aligning with Lafarge Holcim Group\u2019s vision of a safe and healthy work environment.<\/p>\n
