A somber cloud hung over the CBN Quarters along Hadejia Road on Saturday as residents mourned the tragic death of 60-year-old Sabi\u2019u Yusha\u2019u Unguwa Uku, who fell into an abandoned well and drowned.<\/p>\n
The Kano State Fire Service revealed that Uku had been driving a car belonging to the first wife of the Minister of Defence. After dropping off guests at a nearby residence, he stepped out to relieve himself, unaware of the lurking danger.<\/p>\n
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, Uku accidentally stepped onto a dilapidated, debris-covered well.<\/p>\n
The fragile cover gave way, plunging him into the depths.<\/p>\n
Rescue efforts led by Hassan Ahmad Muhammad saw Uku pulled out unconscious, but despite a rapid rush to Sir Sunusi Hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.<\/p>\n
The tragic incident has raised fresh concerns about public safety, particularly in areas with poorly maintained infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Uku\u2019s body has been handed over to CPL Faruku Musa of the Dakata Police Division for further investigation.<\/p>\n
Residents have called for immediate action to identify and seal abandoned wells to prevent similar tragedies.<\/p>\n
