President Bola Tinubu has called on political stakeholders and voters in Ondo State to ensure peace and order during the upcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu emphasized the need for a democratic process that genuinely reflects the will of the people. “The President anticipates a peaceful election where the people of Ondo State can freely choose their leaders without fear,” the statement read.<\/p>\n

Tinubu commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its swift preparations, particularly the timely distribution of sensitive materials across the state\u2019s 18 local government areas. He also praised the deployment of security operatives, expressing confidence in their professionalism and adherence to the Electoral Act.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe assurances from the Inspector-General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff about maintaining law and order underscore the administration\u2019s commitment to a credible electoral process,\u201d the President noted.<\/p>\n

He reminded political candidates and stakeholders that leadership is a privilege granted by the electorate and urged them to respect the democratic process. \u201cA free and fair election is essential to strengthening our 25 years of uninterrupted democratic governance,\u201d Tinubu said.<\/p>\n

The distribution of election materials was supervised by party representatives, the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other agencies, further reinforcing the commitment to a transparent and peaceful election.<\/p>\n
