{"id":55897,"date":"2024-11-14T13:22:27","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T13:22:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=55897"},"modified":"2024-11-14T22:07:22","modified_gmt":"2024-11-14T22:07:22","slug":"ondo-poll-frsc-deploys-1500-personnel-limits-vehicle-traffic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/11\/14\/ondo-poll-frsc-deploys-1500-personnel-limits-vehicle-traffic\/","title":{"rendered":"FRSC Deploys 1,500 Personnel for Ondo Election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, the Federal Road Safety Corps stated that 1,500 troops would be sent to help ensure the smooth conduct of the November 16, 2024, governorship election in Ondo State.<\/p>\n<p>This deployment was authorized by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed as part of larger plans to work with other security authorities to enforce adherence to traffic restrictions on election day.<\/p>\n<p>The FRSC emphasized the significance of upholding order during the electoral process in a statement released by Olusegun Ogungbemide, the Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer.<\/p>\n<p>In order to help with traffic control, clear road blockages, and respond to emergencies, the deployment consists of six ambulances, seven tow trucks, and twenty-five patrol cars.<\/p>\n<p>The Corps Marshal asked the deployed officers to be as professional as possible and to respect every voter&#8217;s right.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized the need for a calm and orderly election and cautioned against any acts that would violate democratic rights.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure a free and fair election process, the FRSC has urged voters to cooperate with officials and adhere to the vehicle movement restrictions as election preparations continue.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read, \u201cAs part of efforts put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the forthcoming Ondo State Gubernatorial election scheduled by the electoral umpire to hold on 16 November 2024, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, has approved the deployment of 1,500 operatives, and ordered them to collaborate with other security agencies to enforce compliance on restrictions of vehicular movement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe directive issued by the Corps Marshal also mandated the Personnel to clear obstructions from the roads, carry out rescue operations in case of emergencies, and maintain orderliness in polling booths.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the same vein, adequate mobilisation has also been made for operational tools, including deployment of 25 patrol vehicles, seven tow trucks, as well as six ambulances to strengthen enforcement of restrictions during the entire process of the election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe warned the personnel deployed to play an active role in the democratic exercise.
