The Nigerian government has outlined an intensified strategy to counter the Lakurawa terror group following recent attacks in Sokoto and Kebbi states, which resulted in 15 fatalities and significant cattle theft.<\/p>\n
Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar revealed that additional troops and equipment will be deployed to affected regions in an effort to dismantle the group\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n
In a statement shared via BBC Hausa Service, Minister Badaru expressed confidence in the government\u2019s new approach, stating, \u201cWith the provision of extra resources and our strategic plans, we aim to bring an end to Lakurawa\u2019s activities.\u201d<\/p>\n
He further noted that top military officials, including Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa and leaders of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, have met to finalize these strategies.<\/p>\n
Badaru acknowledged the adaptive tactics of terrorist groups but emphasized recent gains in Nigeria\u2019s broader counter-terrorism efforts, remarking, \u201cWe have recorded successes over the past year, and with continued efforts and community support, we aim to eradicate this security threat completely.\u201d<\/p>\n
