The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has indicated that the movement may pursue alternative routes if the Labour Party (LP) does not prioritize good governance and accountability.<\/p>\n
Speaking in an interview with Arise News in Abuja, Tanko emphasized that the movement’s commitment to serving Nigerians goes beyond the Labour Party.<\/p>\n
Tanko highlighted the movement\u2019s expansive reach and its willingness to mobilize more strongly after the setbacks faced in the 2023 general elections. Reflecting on challenges within the Labour Party, he noted, “The Obedient Movement is bigger than the Labour Party. We have members from all walks of life, including academicians, traders, and even some from other political parties.”<\/p>\n
He acknowledged shortcomings in the last election, pointing out that 1,760 polling units were not covered by the Labour Party.<\/p>\n
“We are getting prepared and ready to face the challenges,” he said, underscoring the movement\u2019s efforts to strengthen its presence across all polling units.<\/p>\n
Tanko also responded to concerns over the performance of Labour Party lawmakers, acknowledging the need for better structure within the movement to address Nigerians\u2019 expectations.<\/p>\n
