President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerian graduates to embrace patriotism and resist the urge to seek greener pastures overseas, emphasizing that Nigeria\u2019s potential is ripe for transformation.<\/p>\n
Tinubu’s message was delivered by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Owunari Georgewill during the 29th and 30th convocation ceremony at the University of Uyo on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Addressing the graduating class, Tinubu encouraged them to channel their education and skills towards solving societal challenges and fostering national development.<\/p>\n
\u201cI appeal to your sense of patriotism, urging you to resist the allure of seeking greener pastures abroad.<\/p>\n
“Together, we can make Nigeria\u2019s pastures as green, or greener, than those in other lands,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Highlighting his administration\u2019s commitment to easing economic pressures, particularly on the vulnerable, Tinubu outlined steps to create opportunities at home, stressing that universities must lead in research that directly impacts and improves Nigerian society.<\/p>\n
The event also saw University Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Zubairu Abdullah commend Tinubu\u2019s introduction of the student loan scheme, though he expressed concerns about land encroachment on university property, appealing for federal support.<\/p>\n
Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno, honored with a doctorate in Political Science, said the degree inspired him to contribute more to the state, embodying the spirit of perseverance.<\/p>\n
