With five days remaining in his administration, outgoing Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki dissolved his cabinet on Friday.<\/p>\n
This move comes ahead of the November 12, 2024, swearing-in of Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the new governor.<\/p>\n
Governor Obaseki made the announcement shortly after a valedictory session at the Government House in Benin City.<\/p>\n
The motion to dissolve the State Executive Council for 2020 \u2013 2024 was presented by the Deputy Governor, Godwin Omobayo and seconded by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Osilama Okuofu.<\/p>\n
During the session, Obaseki expressed gratitude to the executive council for their support in advancing his vision to make Edo State “great again.”<\/p>\n
He commended their dedication, which, along with the support of Edo’s residents, led to his administration\u2019s accomplishments over the past eight years.<\/p>\n
Council members took turns to acknowledge the governor’s achievements in education, economy, agriculture, power, and infrastructure, among other sectors.<\/p>\n
They expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the people and highlighted the lasting impact of Obaseki\u2019s reforms. The departing officials also presented awards and gifts to the governor as a tribute to his leadership.<\/p>\n
