Celebrity Activist and Influencer, VeryDarkMan, has demanded the release of 76 protesters detained since last week, most of whom are minors.<\/p>\n
The activist, who said he had to struggle to sleep, eat, or even exercise since attending their court hearing on Friday, warned that he would initiate a GoFundMe campaign to raise bail funds if authorities fail to release them by Tuesday.<\/p>\n
With over 1.7 million followers, VeryDarkMan believes his supporters can collectively raise the needed funds to free the minors.<\/p>\n
He voiced concern over their health, noting they appear sick and malnourished from being held in unclean cells, risking further illness.<\/p>\n
The detained minors, who were among 76 protesters arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, face serious charges of treason and conspiracy to destabilize Nigeria, based on accusations under Section 96 of the Nigerian constitution and Section 97 of the Penal Code Act.<\/p>\n
At least 67 of the 76 detained are minors, with some visibly weakened to the point of collapsing in court.<\/p>\n
Bail for the defendants was set at N10 million each, with the requirement that they remain in custody until either their bail conditions are met or their trial commences next year.<\/p>\n
