Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has issued N300 million in compensation to 377 landowners whose properties were acquired for the construction of the Ekiti State Agro-Allied Cargo Airport in Ado Ekiti.<\/p>\n
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye during the cheque distribution, Oyebanji highlighted the airport\u2019s potential to boost the state\u2019s economy, attract investments, and expand opportunities in agriculture, commerce, and tourism.<\/p>\n
“This airport project is not just an infrastructural milestone,” Oyebanji noted, “it is a critical pillar in our mission to drive economic diversification, stimulate local industry, and create new opportunities for Ekiti residents.”<\/p>\n
He commended the landowners for their “patriotism” and dedication to the state\u2019s vision, marking this payout as the third and final compensation tranche.<\/p>\n
Addressing remaining claimants, the governor assured them that further payments are planned and urged them not to interfere with ongoing work, promising that all due compensation would be fully paid.<\/p>\n
On his part, the Special Adviser on Geographic Information System, Professor James Olaleye, emphasized that the payments aim to acknowledge and mitigate the loss felt by the landowners.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the event, Community representatives expressed gratitude, with Chief Ojo Awe saying, “Though it was painful that we lost our property, we are grateful the airport project is becoming a reality and will benefit us all in the future.”<\/p>\n
