{"id":54230,"date":"2024-10-31T09:53:40","date_gmt":"2024-10-31T09:53:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=54230"},"modified":"2024-10-31T13:40:18","modified_gmt":"2024-10-31T13:40:18","slug":"tcn-restores-power-to-northern-states-after-9-day-blackout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/10\/31\/tcn-restores-power-to-northern-states-after-9-day-blackout\/","title":{"rendered":"TCN Restores Power to Northern States After Prolonged Blackout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Emmanuel Ogbodo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), announced the restoration of electricity to several northern states, including Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe.<\/p>\n<p>This update follows a nine-day total blackout across the northwest, northeast, and parts of north-central Nigeria due to a vandalized transmission line, which led to public outcry and the deployment of armed forces to protect repair crews.<\/p>\n<p>According to TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, the company restored bulk power through the 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line 1 at 4:56 p.m. on Wednesday. This action reactivated the Apir-Lafia 330kV line 2, reestablishing power supply in the affected states.<\/p>\n<p>Mbah noted that TCN\u2019s engineering team is preparing to repair the second vandalized 330kV transmission line.<\/p>\n<p>Materials for the repairs are ready and work will begin once the site is secured.
