Kafayat Adeleke, the mother of Sultan Adeleke, popularly known as Eniola, a street hawker, has shed light on the reasons behind her child’s decision to present himself as a lady. In an exclusive interview with social media enthusiast Mr. LilGaga on Thursday, the 40-year-old mother addressed concerns about Eniola’s appearance, attributing it to a deformity resulting from childbirth.<\/p>\n
Adeleke explained that Eniola has been adopting this appearance in Osogbo since 2018, persisting despite facing opposition and attempts to stop him. Contrary to speculation, Sultan was not born female but has a deformity, which has fueled the community’s affection for him. Born in 2005, Eniola prefers to be addressed by his chosen name rather than Sultan.<\/p>\n
During the interview, Adeleke shared that in 2020, Eniola went to Lagos dressed as a girl, seeking help and garnering public support. Despite accompanying him on makeup-related ventures in Osogbo, Adeleke recalled a time when Eniola became determined to go alone, eventually running away to Lagos.<\/p>\n
Adeleke clarified that she had never sought financial assistance until recently when Eniola’s story gained attention, resulting in an outpouring of support and gifts. She shared pictures illustrating Eniola’s deformity since birth, along with his birth certificate.<\/p>\n
In a surprising revelation on Instagram Live, Eniola himself confirmed that he is a boy, disclosing that he dressed as a girl to draw public attention when help seemed elusive. Notably, Eniola received aid from skit maker and comedian Brain Jotter in Lagos, and the video went viral, prompting singer Davido to seek assistance from Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
