The Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), has ordered the suspension of two pastors and their investigation over allegations bordering on homosexuality.<\/p>\n
The directive was contained in a letter dated 28th October, 2024, signed by the RCCG National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande and addressed to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration.<\/p>\n
In the letter titled: \u201cInvestigation and Suspension Regarding Allegations of Homosexuality,\u201d the National Overseer informed of serious allegations of homosexuality made against Pastor Ayorinde Ade-Bello and Deacon Oke Mayowa.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn accordance with our mission\u2019s commitment to upholding the teachings of the Bible, we must address these allegations with the utmost seriousness it deserves.<\/p>\n
“As you are aware, the doctrine of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) does not allow or tolerate any act of homosexuality,\u201d the letter reads.<\/p>\n
Pastor Akande referenced Leviticus 18:22: \u201cYou shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an bomination,\u201d and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10: \u201cOr do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually imnmoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,\u201d as ground for the direction.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn light of these allegations, you are now directed to conduct a thorough investigation,\u201d the letter reads.<\/p>\n
Further to this, the church directed Pastor Ade-Bello, Deacon Mayowa and other accused persons to be temporarily relieved from all of their responsibilities in all mission organs pending the outcome of the investigation. The exercise is expected to be concluded within two weeks.<\/p>\n
The letter however mandated the probe to be handled \u201cwith care and integrity, and in accordance with our values as a church.\u201d<\/p>\n
It further urged those saddled with the task to ensure that the investigation is conducted confidentially and with respect for all parties involved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
