Federal Government has appealed to state governments yet to comply with the new National Minimum Wage Act to begin paying the recently approved \u20a670,000 minimum wage.<\/p>\n

Making the appeal on Monday following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume commended states that have already begun the implementation of the new wage structure and encouraged others to follow suit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe issue of the new minimum wage has always been a priority for President Bola Tinubu\u2019s administration, which is why a tripartite arrangement was quickly established to address all related concerns,\u201d Akume explained. He noted that the Federal Government, state governors, and the organized private sector collaborated to arrive at the new wage threshold.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very satisfied with the progress. Some states have even gone beyond \u20a670,000 in their payments. So, we believe there\u2019s no issue with implementation,” Akume said.<\/p>\n

He then applauded the proactive states and urged those yet to comply to commence payment promptly: \u201cWe appeal to those who haven\u2019t started to begin pay the new minimum wage.\u201d<\/p>\n
