The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has clarified that only three bodies have been recovered following the helicopter crash on Thursday, countering reports that two more bodies were found on Friday.<\/p>\n

In a statement released on Sunday, NNPC\u2019s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, confirmed that no additional bodies have been recovered beyond the initial three.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NNPC Ltd wishes to announce that, beyond the three bodies found in the ill-fated helicopter operated by East Winds Aviation that crashed on Thursday in Port Harcourt, no other bodies have been recovered,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

Soneye emphasized that search and rescue operations are ongoing, with efforts being coordinated with relevant authorities. He assured that NNPC remains committed to locating the remaining individuals. “Our hearts and prayers are with the families affected by this unfortunate incident,” he added.<\/p>\n

The East Winds Aviation helicopter, with registration number 5NBQG, had taken off from Port Harcourt NAF Base en route to the FPSO NUIMS Antan when the incident occurred. Onboard were six NNPC officials and two crew members.<\/p>\n

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau reported on Saturday that, despite the ongoing efforts, neither the debris nor the five missing individuals have been located.<\/p>\n

An electronic manifest obtained by journalists lists the workers onboard as Tamunoemi Suku, Alu Lawrence, Etim Emmanuel, Kenneth Chikwem, Frank Oriamre, and Borris Ndorbo. The pilot was identified as Captain Yakubu Dukas, while the identity of the eighth passenger remains unknown.<\/p>\n
